Hello, and a very warm welcome to my first Crafty Makes in the Lakes blog.
Having moved to the Western Lake District almost two years ago, I was delighted to discover the wealth of talented crafters located in and around the area, many of whose work is so obviously inspired by the stunning beauty and abundant natural resources of the Lakes.
It seems to me that with each passing year our nostalgia for all things vintage, up-cycled and hand-made shows no sign of diminishing, as more and more of us have an urge to turn our backs on today's 'throw-away', 'mass-produced' society. How wonderful that we now get a thrill in up-cycling and giving a new lease of life to yesterday's 'dated' furniture, or delight in re-cycling old-fashioned clothing to produce all manner of exciting items, from quilts, rag rugs and mixed media art to bags, jewellery and fashion items.
Similarly, traditional skills such as spinning, weaving, crochet, knitting, painting and photography, willow weaving and pottery are enjoying an unprecedented revival. So, if you haven't yet discovered your inner creativity, and the joy of producing something unique and personal, now is your time
As my wonderful web-design people are still working on the booking system, it's best to give me a ring to make your booking, or simply to have a chat. And if you are a local crafter, wishing to run a workshop or promote your products, I would also love to hear from you.
Finally, don't forget to subscribe to my blog by registering your email address so you can be the first to hear my latest news and developments, special offers and occasional freebies.
I am so looking forward to hearing from you.
PS I nearly forgot to mention the 'C' word! There's still time to book onto many of our Christmas workshops. And if you need gift inspiration for your crafty nearest and dearest, our shelves are filled with hand-crafted goodies and craft kits. (Not to mention our gift vouchers).
